Services for Doug Boynton

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church at 10627 Patterson Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to either St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, PO Box 29626., Henrico, Va. 23242, Massey Cancer Center, 401 College St., Richmond, Va. 23298 or The Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, Va. 23223.

BOYNTON, Douglas Tuggle, 77, of Richmond, died peacefully while recuperating from surgery Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was born to the late Neil Lathrop Boynton and Clara Brooke Tuggle Boynton on September 2, 1937 in Amelia, Va.

Doug graduated from Virginia Tech in 1958 with a major in accounting. He later completed a MBE from VCU. He passed the CPA exam and spent his career in public accounting.

Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Phillips Boynton; his three daughters, Frances Bradley Boynton, Sarah Boynton Bay (Kevin), Elizabeth Boynton Lamothe (Joe); and three perfect grandchildren, Scott Boynton Lamothe, Michael Joseph Lamothe and Kimberly Jean Bay. Doug loved animals and will be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by many beloved pets and is survived by his grand-cats, Dulce and Simon.

Doug was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church and served as Treasurer and Senior Warden. He was a member of Westhampton Masonic Lodge No. 302 since 1970 and twice served as Worshipful Master. He was District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 15C. He was affiliated with VA Research Lodge No. 1776 and served once as their Worshipful Master. He was also affiliated with Fraternal Masonic Lodge No. 53, and was a charter member of Research Lodge No. 1865. He was Trustee and member of the Lodge Committee on Scholarships for Westhampton Masonic Lodge. He served the Grand Lodge on the Committee on Credentials for many years. He was a 32 degree member of the Scottish Rite and was awarded the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) in the Scottish Rite. He was a member of Washington Royal Arch Chapter No. 9 and was a Past High Priest of Washington Royal Arch Chapter No. 9, as well as a Past District Deputy Grand High Priest. He was a member of the Richmond Commandery No. 2 and was a Past Treasurer of this organization. He was the Past Sovereign Master of the William T. Buckner Council No. 130-Allied Masonic Degrees.
