Michael J. Oglesby obituary from The Richmond Times-Dispatch

OGLESBY, Michael Jackson, 64, of Richmond, died unexpectedly May 18, 2015. He was born May 23, 1950 at Fort Lee, Virginia, the son of the late Earnest Jackson Oglesby Jr. and Irmgard Weber Oglesby. Mike's family and many friends will always remember his smile that never dimmed and his kind heart that never met a stranger.

Mike was a proud graduate of Virginia Military Institute, class of 1972 and the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. He was a hearing officer at the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for 37 years and a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church for more than 50 years. He was also a member of the Virginia State Bar, Tuckahoe Lions Club and now Richmond Host/Tuckahoe Lions Club, a member of Friends of L'Arche of Central Virginia, a board member of Old Dominion Eye Foundation and a dedicated timer for the swim team at Southampton Recreation Association.

Mr. Oglesby is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Randy Siegfried Oglesby; two daughters, Melanie Oglesby Soscia and her husband, Rob, of Norfolk and Pamela Michelle Oglesby of Richmond; brother, William Geddy Oglesby and his wife, Marcia; two sisters, Cameron Mathilde Oglesby and Christine Elizabeth Oglesby; and loving extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 10627 Patterson Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 29626, Richmond, Va. 23242 or Richmond Host/Tuckahoe Lions Club, 500 Watch Hill Rd., Midlothian, Va. 23114.
