Irmgard Melanie Weber Oglesby, known to her many beloved friends and family members as "Dutchy," 86, of Richmond, died June 15, 2013. She was born November 15, 1926 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, the daughter of the late Willy Oscar Alfred Weber and Erna Mathilde Weber-Werth. Mrs. Oglesby spent her teenage years under Nazi occupation with her family in The Netherlands, where she joined with so many others in the Dutch resistance movement, bicycling messages for the "underground." She met her future husband, U.S. Army Captain Earnest Jackson Oglesby Jr., while both were employed by the Army's World War II American Graves Registry office in Liege, Belgium. They were married on December 4, 1948, in her hometown of Amersfoort and lived in Paris prior to moving to the U.S. in May 1949, where she became a proud U.S. citizen. Dutchy and Jack were married for 52 years prior to his death on October 29, 2001. Mrs. Oglesby is survived by two sons, Michael Jackson Oglesby and his wife, Randy, and William Geddy Oglesby and his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Cameron Mathilde Oglesby and Christine Elizabeth Oglesby; four grand-children, Melanie Oglesby and her fiance, Rob Soscia, of Norfolk, Va., Jessica Jannuzzi and her husband, Justin, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Pamela Oglesby and Caroline Oglesby, both of Richmond. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Weber Wyker. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Road, Richmond, Va. 23229; or to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, PO Box 29626, Henrico, Va. 23242.
