Memorial Service for Kay Considine Carr Cordray

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 30, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church10627 Patterson Avenue, Henrico VA 23238, immediately followed by a reception at the church. Kay's ashes will be interred in the church's garden. Memorials are suggested to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 29626, Richmond, Va. 23242 or to one of the charities she supported with her time

 

.CORDRAY, Mary Kay Considine Carr, 86, of Bon Air, died May 19, 2017, at her residence in Morningside of Bellgrade. She was born July 21, 1930, in Edwardsville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Joseph (Mike) and Dorothy Lasbury Considine. Kay was predeceased by her husbands, James Arthur Carr and Richard Palmer Cordray; brother, John Raynor Considine; and sister-in-law, Betty Butts.

She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Ellen Carr of Petersburg and Jennifer Carr Talbot (Bragg Cox) of Cary; and one grandson, Bradley Carr Prosser (Wendy Aves) of Raleigh, N.C. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Murphy (Dan) of Columbia, Illinois and Susan Hayes (Bob) of Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Alice Smith of Asheville, N.C., Jean Trimble of San Diego; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kay was blessed with wonderful friends, Millie Bell, Jennie Eckert and Beverly Lochwood. They assisted in her quality of life during her later years. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the love and nurturing that her friends provided and for the care she received from nurse, Alice Moore. Kay was an excellent cook, loved to travel, and was proud of her Irish heritage. She also spent several decades as an avid volunteer with organizations including the SPCA, Mended Hearts and St. Thomas Hospice at Retreat Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 30, at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Richmond, immediately followed by a reception at the church. Kay's ashes will be interred in the church's garden. Memorials are suggested to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, P.O.
